Review of Magic Faces: Monster Mayhem by Esi Merleh, illustrated by Abeha Tariq

Diddle, diddle, dumpling, my son John,

Went to bed with his trousers on;

One shoe off, and one shoe on, This little piggy cried 'Wee, wee, wee' all the way home!

Boing! Boing! Boing! Cried Freddie the Flea, as he bounced happily along the soft, velvety petals of a giant sunflower. Where was he going? Why, to meet his best friend Charlie Caterpillar of course. What adventures would they have today? Freddie couldn’t wait to find out.

Freddie saw him first - Charlie Caterpillar was munching happily on a big juicy leaf, looking very green and content.

“What are you eating today, Charlie?” Asked Freddie. “It looks delicious!”

“It’s my favorite - milkweed!” Charlie replied enthusiastically. “Want to try some?” He offered Freddie a bite.

Freddie took a big bite. “Yummy!” he exclaimed! “I love milkweed!”. The two friends munched contentedly side by side. The sun was warm, the air was balmy, and Freddie felt very happy to be alive. Life is good when you are a flea, he thought!
