🐞🌼
Get ready to build a delightful habitat for your favorite imaginary insects! These sweet little bug houses are made with graham crackers and dressed up with colorful candy flowers! Let's get building and decorating!
Ingredients
- 4 full graham crackers (feel free to use any brand, but Honey Maid is recommended for staying power!)
- 1 cup of melted white chocolate chips (your glue that’s cooler than any insect!)
- Assorted candies for decoration (gummy worms, mini marshmallows, M&Ms, candy flowers, and more!)
- A sprinkle of love and fun (the secret ingredient that's always a must!)
Instructions
Let’s Begin the Adventure! Grab your graham crackers and break two in half. These will be the side walls of your bug house! Wiggle them like a wiggly worm!
Create the Front and Back! Cut two of your remaining graham crackers at a slight angle to make triangular roofs. Snip-snap! These are the perfect spots for your bug family to crawl under!
Assemble the Walls with your melted chocolate! Pipe a line of melted chocolate on each edge of a side cracker. Now, place one half cracker vertically and press a triangular cracker on top. Hold it for a few seconds, like you’re giving it a bug hug!
Add the Roof! Once your walls are together, it’s time for the roof! Add more melted chocolate to the top edges, then place your two triangle-shaped crackers on as the roof panels. Now hold it for about 5 minutes to let it set—this is a team effort!
Decorate Your Bug House! It’s time to unleash your creativity! Give your house a silly smile with chocolate chips for eyes and candy flowers on the roof! Maybe even create a gummy worm garden outside. Can you make a rainbow bug family with different candies?
Let It Harden! Allow everything to set for about 10 minutes. While you wait, why not pretend you’re a bug exploring your new home?
Final Touches! Use any leftover candy and melted chocolate to add details and sparkle! Drizzle chocolate like spider webs for an extra touch of fun!
Fun Bug Fact
Did you know that butterflies taste with their feet? That’s how they find food! So while you’re enjoying your tasty creation, imagine what it would be like if you could taste candy just by standing on it!
Safety Tip
Since we’re using melted chocolate, make sure an adult is there to help with microwaving and assembling your house.
Complexity Level
Medium (Kids need some adult help for melting chocolate and cutting pieces!)
