Deliciously Fun Butterfly Tortilla Roll-Ups: A Colorful Twist on a Classic Snack!

Deliciously Fun Butterfly Tortilla Roll-Ups: A Colorful Twist on a Classic Snack!

🦋💖

Complexity Level: Easy Peasy (Adult assistance required for oven time)

Ingredients:

  • 2 Mission® 8" Heat Pressed Flour Tortillas
  • 1 cup Apple Filling (just like a ladybug's favorite snack, but no bugs are involved!)
  • 1 Egg White, beaten (for that extra shine!)
  • 1 tsp. Butter (to make it deliciously buttery!)
  • 1 tsp. Sugar (for a sweet touch)
  • 1 cup Vanilla Ice Cream (the cloud your butterfly lands on)
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Sauce (like a tasty mud puddle!)
  • 1/2 cup Raspberry Sauce (a splash of color!)
  • Mint Leaf (for a refreshing sprinkle)
  • Raspberries (for garnish, because butterflies like pretty things!)

Instructions:

Step 1: Brilliance in Buttering

Preheat your oven to 350º F. Fold those tortillas in half and cut them into a butterfly shape. Remember, we want our butterflies to fly, not be squished! So, leave the center intact!

Step 2: Butter Up!

Unfold your tortilla creations and brush one side of both with some melted butter. Now, lay one of the tortillas butter-side down like it’s taking a nap!

Step 3: Fill ‘er Up!

Spoon 1/2 cup of that delightful apple filling onto the tortilla, making sure to leave a 1" border (that's like a safety net for your yummy filling!). Dip your brush in that egg white and paint the edges like you're giving your butterfly a fabulous makeover!

Step 4: Seal the Deal

Carefully place the other tortilla on top with the buttered side facing up. Press the edges together gently to seal your tasty bug creation!

Step 5: Sprinkle Some Magic

Sprinkle a little sugar on your butterfly’s back (tortilla) and transfer it to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Time to fly to the oven! Bake until golden — about 8-10 minutes. Remove when it has that beautiful golden-brown tan.

Step 6: Décor Delight

Place a big scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center of your plate like a cozy cloud. Drizzle raspberry sauce and chocolate sauce around it like an abstract painting! Finally, place your warmed butterfly gently on top of the ice cream, and garnish with a mint leaf and raspberries for the grand reveal!

Fun Bug Fact:

Did you know butterflies taste with their feet? They have taste receptors on their feet to help them find nutritious flowers! So if you ever see a butterfly hopping around your garden, it’s really just checking the menu!

Safety Tip:

Adult help is needed for step 5, when you use the oven. Make sure to have a grown-up around to help you with that fiery friend!

Final Touch:

Feel free to make your plate even more fun! Add colorful sprinkles, outrageous toppings, or even edible glitter for that “wow” factor!
