A regal portrait of a lion wearing a bejeweled crown, with the lush jungles of Gundalpet in the background

Ruler of Gundalpet

Little Miss Muffet

Sat on a tuffet,

Eating her curds and whey,

Along came a spider,

And sat down beside her,

And frightened Miss Muffet away.

Have you ever seen a spider up close? Maybe in your house or outside on a web? Did you know that they are not insects? Spiders are arachnids and have eight legs instead of six like an insect. And, get this, some spiders have up to eight eyes! Whoa! Did you know that almost all spiders make silk? Cool right? Spiders use their silk to make webs to catch their food. Some spiders even use their silk like a safety line to lower themselves down from high places. Spiders are super cool and helpful. Without spiders, we would be overrun by insects, like flies and mosquitos. Spiders eat tons of insects every year, keeping the insect population in check. So next time you see a spider, remember, they are our friends! And besides, they are way more scared of you, than you are of them.

Hey diddle, diddle

The Cat and the Fiddle,

The Cow jumped over the Moon,

The little Dog laughed

To see such sport,

And the Dish ran away with the Spoon.

Ants are amazing creatures! Did you know that ants are super strong? Some ants can lift 50 times their weight! Whoa! How would you like to be able to lift a car or a truck? Ants work together as a team to build their homes, find food, and take care of their babies. There are girl ants and boy ants. Girl ants are the worker ants, they are the ones who do all the work. Boy ants have wings and their job is to mate with the queen ant. And get this, the queen ant can live for many years and have millions of babies! Talk about a big family! Did you ever see a line of ants carrying food? They are taking it back to the nest to share with the other ants. Sharing is caring! Ants are super important for our environment. They help aerate the soil, which means they help air and water get into the ground so that plants can grow. Pretty Cool!
