Let Me Present

Little Miss Muffet

Sat on her tuffet, Eating her curds and whey; Along came a spider, Who sat down beside her, And frightened Miss Muffet away.

Do you know who Miss Muffet was running from? A spider! I think spiders are super cool. I know some people think they're scary, but did you know they're actually really helpful? Spiders eat lots of pesky bugs like flies and mosquitos that can bug us when we're trying to play outside. Spiders are also amazing builders! Have you ever seen a spider web? They're like little works of art made of silk. Spiders spin this silk from their bodies, and it's super strong and sticky. Different kinds of spiders make different kinds of webs – some are round like a wheel, some are flat like a sheet, and some are even funnel-shaped! So next time you see a spider, don't be scared. Just remember, they're just trying to help keep the bugs away and build their amazing webs.

What has an eye but cannot see?

A needle

Did you guess the riddle? The answer is a needle! Speaking of needles, have you ever seen a bug with a pointy tail that looks like a needle? It might be a dragonfly! Dragonflies are incredible fliers. They can zoom through the air, stop suddenly, and even fly backwards! They have four wings that they can move separately, which helps them change direction quickly. Dragonflies are also super hunters. They have big eyes that help them see in all directions, and they use their strong jaws to catch other bugs, like mosquitos, to eat. Some dragonflies even eat mosquitos when they are still larvae living in the water. If you ever see a dragonfly, watch it fly around – it's like watching a tiny helicopter! They're amazing creatures, and they help keep the number of pesky bugs down.

I have cities, but no houses. I have mountains, but no trees. I have water, but no fish. What am I?

A map

Did you guess the riddle? The answer is a map! Speaking of maps, have you ever gone on a bug hunt? It’s like going on a treasure hunt, but instead of looking for gold or jewels, you look for amazing bugs! You can search in your backyard, a park, or even just outside your window. What kind of bugs do you think you might find? You might find ants marching in a line, carrying tiny pieces of food back to their nest. Or maybe you'll spot a bumblebee buzzing from flower to flower, collecting sweet nectar. Look closely at the leaves on the plants – you might discover a caterpillar munching away or a ladybug resting in the shade. Remember, when you're on a bug hunt, be gentle with the bugs you find. You can observe them, but it's best to leave them where they are so they can continue their important work in the ecosystem.
