A group of grotesque, shadowy creatures with glowing eyes emerging from a dark cave, with a warning sign that reads Beware the Trogs.

Beware the Trogs

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey. Along came a spider, and sat down beside her…

…and Little Miss Muffet shrieked and dropped her bowl! Curds and whey splattered everywhere! The spider, startled by the little girl’s outburst, scurried away to safety.

Why was Little Miss Muffet so afraid?

Had anyone ever told her that spiders are our friends? This little spider was just trying to be neighborly and Miss Muffet treated him like a…like a…Trog! Nobody wants to be around a Trog.

What’s a Trog? Well, that’s what we call creatures who do icky, yucky things. Things like leaving dirty socks on the floor or forgetting to water the plants. Maybe even blowing giant sticky bubbles with their gum!

Spiders are definitely NOT Trogs!

They spin beautiful webs to catch pesky flies and mosquitos. Can you imagine how annoying summer would be with even MORE mosquitos buzzing around your head? Thanks to spiders, we have fewer mosquitos to swat at picnics.

Are you still a little nervous about spiders?

That’s ok! Not everyone feels comfortable with eight-legged creatures crawling around.

But the next time you see a spider, take a minute to watch it. Observe how it moves. Look at the intricate patterns in its web. Remember, spiders are amazing architects and engineers!
