This dish is a playful, sweet treat that brings the essence of the adventurous yellowjacket to your table, without the sting! And remember, no real bugs were harmed in the making of this recipe.

Ingredients for Yellowjacket Yogurt

  • 2 cups of Greek yogurt (for a creamy base)
  • 1/4 cup of honey (for a natural, sweet flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric (for a vibrant, yellow color)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper (to enhance the turmeric’s absorption)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (for depth of flavor)
  • Yellow and black striped fruit leather (cut into small, bee-like stripes for garnish)
  • Fresh berries (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the Greek yogurt with honey, turmeric, black pepper, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and evenly colored.
  2. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey, if desired.
  3. Chill the yogurt mixture in the refrigerator for at least an hour to let the flavors meld together wonderfully.
  4. While the yogurt chills, cut the fruit leather into thin, short strips. These will serve as your edible yellowjackets that will buzz around the top of your yogurt.
  5. Once the yogurt has chilled and is ready to serve, spoon it into serving bowls.
  6. Garnish the top of each bowl with fruit leather stripes, arranging them to resemble the distinctive yellow and black pattern of a yellowjacket. Be as creative as you like!
  7. Finally, add a handful of fresh berries to each bowl for a refreshing pop of color and flavor.

This Yellowjacket Yogurt is a delightful concoction that's sure to bring smiles and a bit of fun to breakfast, snack time, or any moment in need of a sweet uplift. It's a whimsical way to appreciate the intriguing world of bugs, through a culinary creation that's both tasty and visually striking.
