Ingredients

  • 1 large cucumber – it serves as the bug body
  • 1 bell pepper – any color now serves as bug wings
  • 1 small carrot – it now makes bug antennas
  • Cherry tomatoes – they serve as bug eyes
  • Black olives – they now fill the bug eyes with pupils
  • Hummus or cream cheese – it acts as tasty glue
  • Love and fun! – a bit of creativity and some giggles

Veggie Bug Bonanza: Faces You

Feel free to swap veggies: try zucchini, radishes, or celery. They bring more fun to your bug.

Wiggle Your Cucumber!
Cut your cucumber in half lengthwise to create the bug body. Squeeze a bit of hummus or cream cheese on it—this will hold everything together like bug goo!

Pepper Power!
Cut the bell pepper into shapes that resemble wings and stick them onto the cucumber body. Now your bug’s ready to take flight! Choose a bright color for extra fun.

Carrot Craze!
Slice the small carrot into two long strips and insert them into one end of the cucumber. They’ll stand up like antennas.

Tomato Time!
Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and place them on the cucumber body to form bug eyes. Position them close together for that perfect bug look.

Olive Eyeballs!
Pop black olives into the tomato halves for pupils. Your bug will now have a silly or spooky look!

Finishing Touches
Add a little more hummus or cream cheese to hold everything in place. For some extra fun, draw a silly grin on your bug!

Buggy Challenge!

Can you make a whole bug clan? Try a bug with an extra wing or a bug that has spots. Mix different veggies to get more fun bugs.

Fun Bug Fact

Did you know? There are over 900,000 bug types in the world. That number tops the count of mammals, birds, and reptiles. It shows that bug art is full of fun!

Safety Tip

🛑 Ask an adult for help when you use knives or sharp tools. Safety comes first, little chef!

Final Touch

Make your veggie bug faces even funnier by drawing silly smiles with edible markers. Snap a picture before you eat!
