Hickory Dickory Dock, a Busy Bee Climbed Up the Clock!
But why was the bee in such a hurry?
Our little bee friend, Buzzy, wasn't trying to be late. He was on a very important mission! You see, Buzzy had a very special job, even for a bee. He was in charge of waking up the sun every morning! Can you imagine a more important job?
Every day, just before sunrise, Buzzy would fly to the tallest flower in the meadow, a giant sunflower named Sunny. He would tickle Sunny gently with his tiny bee feet, and Sunny would giggle… a sound like wind chimes in the breeze. That giggle would tickle the clouds awake, and they would yawn and stretch across the sky. Finally, the sun, hearing all the commotion, would peek out from behind the hills, ready to start a brand new day!
But this morning was different. Buzzy had overslept! He had stayed up late the night before, chatting with his best friend, Charlie the Caterpillar, and now he was running behind schedule! That’s why he found himself racing towards the old grandfather clock in Mrs. Peabody’s garden, hoping to tell the time.
Buzzy took a deep breath and buzzed three times, really fast, right next to the clock's big, round face. Wake up, sleepyhead! he shouted, The sun is waiting!
And guess what? The clock's big hand actually jumped! It moved forward a whole minute, then another, as if it had been startled awake. Buzzy giggled. Maybe clocks needed a little tickling too!
With a final buzz, Buzzy zoomed away towards the meadow. He had a sun to wake up!
